Allan Perkins brings a rich, varied, and unique set of skills, talents, and experiences to his writing. His strong imagination and creative thinking started being formed early.

Allan spent his childhood in eastern Pennsylvania, living in numerous rural locations including several dairy, crop and horse farms. He went to numerous schools including two separate one room rural schools houses and a larger township consolidated school. When he started high school, he moved to Philadelphia graduating from Roxbrough High School.

Allan has more than 300 news stories and several books to his credit. His work has been featured in the Indigo Sun journal, where he had a long running series of articles on the art of rune casting and his ‘how to’ book Ramblings of a Roving Rune Caster is still available to the public. For a time, during his Air Force career, Allan served as Non-commissioned Officer–In-Charge of Public Affairs for his unit, and has twice received the Silver Scroll Award and twice received the Thomas Paine Journalism Award from the Air Force Communications Command.

For most of his adult life Allan has been known for coming up with unique and strange ideas. Many of his ideas for books and stories come to him this way. 12 years ago, he was asked to read a Christmas story for charity Christmas party. Allan was concerned that the kids knew any story he could read. But at the same time he was studying ancient Nordic Runes. So he wrote a Christmas story set in an imaginary Nordic village. It proved to be very popular and he was asked to write follow-on story, and another, and another; so that first story quickly grew into his inspirational fantasy novel, From Beggar Boy to Prince. Another time, Allan woke up twice during the same night, having dreamed of a white rose. When he couldn’t sleep, Allan got up; turned on his computer, and a few hours later The Snow Rose was complete.

Allan has six college degrees, four in the administration of adult and continuing education. These include a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education (BSOE) from Wayland Baptist College. He has also earned both the Master of Education and Specialist of Education degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Allan is married to the former Sheila Overby, who taught him that he is lovable. Also, he has one adult daughter, Kimberly, who is a preschool teacher and keen observer of the joys of young children.
